Robot Packages Snacks Print this page

Valk Handling has installed a handling robot into an automated packaging line for a large Dutch snack food manufacturer on behalf of TMF Beltingsystems B.V.

The application of a handling robot, which in this case picks frikkadels [traditional Dutch minced-meat sausages] from the conveyor belt and places them in a box, is unique within the industry. The line with its new handling robot performs the same work during a double shift, as was previously carried out by six employees.

TMF Beltingsystems B.V. develops and produces conveyor belt systems for the food processing industry, and in particular for dry food substances. With regards to handling robot integration, TMF’s partnership with Valk Handling opens up new growth potential for its products and services. For this project, Valk Handling implemented a Fanuc M421 iA handling robot, which is equipped with dual grippers capable of packaging 2 x 10 frikkadels every three seconds and placing greaseproof sheets between every ten products.
